Airbnb turnover checklist
The between-guest checks that stop small faults becoming reviews. Print it and give it to whoever does the turnover.
Laid out to print cleanly in black and white. Site navigation and calls to action are left off the page.
Ordered by how often each one turns into a message from a guest. Give this to your cleaner — they are in every room more often than anybody else.
Property: Date:
Water — every turnover
- Run every drain under load. Fill the basin, let it go, watch it clear
- Shower tray drains without standing water around the feet
- Flush every toilet twice — listen for a fill valve that keeps running
- Toilet does not rock when leaned on
- Hot water reaches temperature, and recovers within the usual time
- Water pressure normal at the kitchen faucet and every shower
- Look under every sink for damp, drips or staining
- Run water briefly in any fixture that went unused — dry traps smell
Fixtures and fittings
- Towel rails, hooks and shower rails secure when pulled
- Shower head not scaled — descale if flow has dropped
- Sealant around bath, shower and countertops intact, not black or peeling
- No dripping faucets or mixers
Access and safety
- Every door locks and unlocks with the key or code
- Keybox opens cleanly and the code is correct
- Smoke and CO alarms sound when tested
- All bulbs working, including the ones nobody uses
Report back
- Anything a guest mentioned in messages
- Anything the cleaner noticed
- Anything on this list that needed doing twice
Monthly
- Descale aerators and shower heads
- Check the water heater relief valve and its drain pan
- Tighten anything that has worked loose
Annually
- Flush the water heater — hard water is what shortens its life here
- Replace washing machine hoses if they are more than five years old
- Inspect the main drain line if the building predates the 1970s
